About the Game
Who made this, what it is, and a statement of originality
What is Allure of Kingdoms: Ancient Past?
Allure of Kingdoms: Ancient Past ("AKAP") is a lighthearted, text-based browser game. Players start as a humble farmer and work their way up a thirteen-rank ladder of medieval nobility — doing silly jobs, building an estate, hiring servants, and scheming their way to the throne. The tone is comedic: the recurring characters are a disrespectful goat named Gerald and a mysterious duck.
The game is free to play in its entirety. It is played directly at https://allureofthepast.com — no download, no app store, no third-party platform.
Statement of originality
AKAP is 100% original, self-made work, built from scratch by its developer. Specifically:
- Code: the entire game — engine, database design, and pages — is custom-written PHP and JavaScript created for this game. It uses no game engine, no purchased game template, and no code taken from any other game.
- Writing & game design: every rank, job, scheme, item, achievement, and joke — including all characters such as "Gerald the goat" and the "Royal Duck Advisor" — is original writing created for this game.
- Art: the game deliberately uses no game art assets at all. Its visual style is built from standard Unicode emoji, CSS, and open-licensed fonts (Cinzel, Alegreya, and IM Fell English, used under the SIL Open Font License via Google Fonts — see Credits).
- No third-party IP: AKAP is not affiliated with, based on, or derived from any other game, book, film, or franchise. It does not use any third party's trademarks, characters, artwork, audio, or content. Any resemblance to other medieval-themed games is limited to the broad public-domain theme of "medieval kingdoms".
- Domain & hosting: allureofthepast.com is registered and operated by the developer; the game is hosted on Namecheap shared hosting.
We're happy to demonstrate any of the above to platform or payment-provider reviewers — including a walkthrough of the codebase or database — on request via support@allureofthepast.com.
Business model — simple and transparent
- The full game, including reaching the maximum rank, is achievable completely free.
- The only paid product is Allure Points (AP), a virtual currency sold in fixed packages at fixed prices ($5.00–$200.00), spent in-game on convenience items (e.g. energy refills), temporary boosts, and cosmetics (titles, name colors).
- No gambling mechanics for money: we sell no randomised items, loot boxes, or chance-based purchases. The daily "Royal Scratch-Off" is a free login bonus that cannot be purchased with real money or AP.
- No pay-to-win: rank progression currency ("Reputation") can never be bought — this is a published game rule (see the store's "Merchant's Oath").
- No subscriptions, no recurring billing: every purchase is a one-time, buyer-initiated checkout handled by Stripe (and potentially PayPal). Card data never touches our servers.
- Clear Refund & Delivery Policy: instant automatic delivery, 14-day refunds on unspent AP.
